Rapper Boosie appears in court after assault on Houston club security

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) -- Louisiana rapper known as Boosie Badazz appeared in a Harris County courtroom on Monday after being charged over an incident that happened last month in downtown Houston, court records say.

Boosie, whose real name is Torrance Ivy Hatch Jr., is facing an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charge after being accused of hitting a nightclub security guard in the head with a glass hookah on May 24.

According to charging documents, the situation occurred when a woman asked to use the restroom. Records said the guard denied her because the club, located on Main Street, was closing for the evening, leading her to allegedly get upset and hit the guard, before dropping her belongings on the floor.

The guard then bent down to pick up the items before being allegedly hit by the rapper, and saw him holding the hookah bottle, records said.

Officials said the guard was taken to the hospital and had to get eight staples in his head.

After the court, the rapper posted to his social media that the ordeal was a "money grab."

He was released on a $85,000 bond.
