Galveston College has been awarded a special Nursing Grant from the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board. The grant was only awarded to 19 community colleges in Texas and it is designed to aid colleges with their RN licensure programs to develop and expand their computer lab, nursing skills lab and simulation lab capacity and capabilities.
The total amount awarded to Galveston College was $129,820 and the grant goes from January 2015 through December 2016. The overall goal of the grant project is to shift clinical hours from traditional patient care clinical situations to lab and simulation activities in order to reduce the number of contact hours of clinical instruction.
