HOUSTON (KTRK) -- The NBA has upgraded a common foul against Dwight Howard from Game 5 of the Western Conference Finals to a Flagrant 1.
The foul came with 3:35 remaining in the 4th quarter of the Rockets loss to the Golden State Warriors. The game's officials reviewed the play and decided at the time the foul did not meet the criteria for a Flagrant 1.
However, the NBA officials took another look at the play, and this morning did upgrade the common foul. The decision means the Rockets center will be suspended for the first game of the 2015-16 regular season.
Howard and Andrew Bogut were also called for double technical fouls in the second quarter. It was Howard's seventh technical foul of the postseason, meaning he would've been suspended if there was a Game 6. The NBA did decide to rescind that technical foul.
