Authorities seize marijuana chocolate from Mongtomery County home

CLEVELAND, TX (KTRK) -- Two pounds of green marijuana, 195 grams of wax marijuana and 12 packs of commercially produced "marijuana chocolate" are among the items seized at a Montgomery County home last night as two people were arrested following an anonymous tip that drugs were allegedly being sold from the home.

"There's a lot of traffic. Too much for comfort," said one neighbor on Warner Road who wished not to be identified.

Precinct 4 Deputy Constables arrested Matthew Starcher and Emily Vanness. Both are charged with one felony count of possession and another felony count of manufacturing or delivering of a controlled substance.

Investigators say they found a child under the age of five in the home. Detectives allowed a family member to take temporary custody. They say CPS will investigate to ensure they are receiving proper care.

Investigators say there are two things about this case that they find concerning: the amount of wax marijuana, which they say is a much more potent form of the drug, and -- with Halloween just weeks away -- how much edible marijuana exists elsewhere.

They don't want children getting the the chocolate marijuana in their bags of treats. The bars they discovered appear to have been manufactured by a company out of Portland, Oregon, where pot is legal. No one at that business responded to repeated attempts for comment.

A spokesperson for Montgomery County Precinct 4 Deputy Constables Office says marijuana possession in Texas is still a crime.
