Pastor and wife found dead after driving into flood waters

FULSHEAR, Texas (KTRK) -- The Fulshear area is devastated tonight after learning that a popular pastor and his wife both drowned when their vehicle was swamped by high water.

Donald and Rochelle Rogers were well known in the area and even have a street named for their family.

According to the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office, two victims drowned in a vehicle that drove into high water on Pool Hill Road near Simonton.

The current swept away the vehicle with flooding from Bessie's Creek, just north of Fulshear around 12:40 p.m.

"We are deeply saddened to report this unfortunate incident," said Judge Hebert. "Our hearts go out to the family of the deceased and all involved. It is a tragic day and we join their family and friends in mourning their loss."

The identities of the deceased are not yet available pending notification of family.

Judge Hebert recognized the efforts of the emergency teams who responded to this incident quickly, but were unable to save the victims.

"We appreciate the efforts of the Fulshear Fire Department and the Arizona Task Force Water Rescue who responded quickly on scene," he said.

No other details about the victims were immediately available.
