Doppelganger 'twins' from North Carolina and Texas meet for the first time

Maybe it is true that everyone has a twin. Two women from North Carolina and Texas recently got to meet face-to-face after discovering they share an uncanny resemblance.

Jennifer, a 33-year-old woman from Spring, Texas, and Ambra, a 23-year-old woman from Fayetteville, North Carolina connected after both registered on the website Twin Strangers. The site was co-created by 26-year old Niamh Geaney to help people found their lookalikes. Geaney herself made headlines earlier this year after discovering that she had not one, but two doppelgangers -- one in Ireland and another in Italy.

When people register on the website, they fill out questionnaires about distinctive physical features before being matched with potential "twins."

"Once we contacted Jennifer and Ambra and got their photos side-by-side, we were like 'Whoa! That's a match, we've got to get them together!'" Geaney told ABC News.

Geaney helped coordinate the meeting between Jennifer and Ambra and filmed the experience for the site's YouTube channel.

"I was fine right up until I got up to the elevator to come down and see her," Ambra said in the video. "And then suddenly I was all nervous and suddenly my hands were shaking and I was like, oh my lord, I'm actually gonna meet her."

The pair, who asked that they not be identified by last name, posed for a photoshoot during their meeting, wearing similar clothing and makeup to maximize the the doppelganger effect.

Although they live several states apart, Jennifer and Ambra communicate regularly online, according to Geaney.
