HENRICO, VA (KTRK) -- A former teacher is in trouble with the law for allegedly letting students smoke weed in class.

Domonic Leuzzi, 23, is accused of doing more than just teaching shop class at a Henrico, Virgina high school.

Henrico County Police Lieutenant Chris Eley told WRIC-TV that the students' teacher allowed them to smoke while on campus.

"Domonic Leuzzi was actually allowing students to smoke marijuana in his classroom," Eley says.

Leuzzi was a shop teacher at the Academy of Virginia Randolph, a high school for academically and behaviorally challenged students.

Outside the school, there is a drug-free zone sign. But inside, at least three teens were allegedly caught smoking weed on Leuzzi's watch, court records show.

A spokesperson for Henrico County Public Schools says Leuzzi is no longer employed by the school or the district.

"In my 18 years in police, I haven't seen anything like this," Eley says.

Trial for Leuzzi begins in May.
