There's a new "Dancing With the Stars" champion!

LOS ANGELES, CA -- It's made of plastic and, well, a little on the cheesy side. But Maks Chmerkovskiy says he's proud to finally get his hands on it.

"It" - is the mirrorball trophy awarded to the "Dancing With the Stars" winner - and for the first time ever, Maks has won it. He teamed up with Olympic skater Meryl Davis to score the win last night, capping season 18 of the ABC ballroom competition.

Chmerkovskiy said while he knows the trophy isn't much to look at, "it means so much" for him to have won it. He says what makes it sweeter is winning it with Davis - saying that was "a dream come true."

In the bedlam after the announcement, host Tom Bergeron had to look around to find the triumphant couple to hand them the trophy before the credits rolled and the show went off the air.
