AUSTIN, TX -- Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick will hold a press conference Tuesday to demand the resignation of Fort Worth Independent School District Superintendent Dr. Kent Paredes Scribner over a set of guidelines outlining the rights of transgender students.

The document in question, Transgender Student Guidelines, requires school district personnel to recognize and respect students' gender identity. It prohibits any bullying or harassment predicated upon a student's "gender identity, gender expression, gender transition, transgender status or gender non-conformity."

Notably, the document allows students to use bathrooms that correspond with their gender identity and prohibits school personnel from requiring students to use "potentially unsafe" facilities.

In a news release, Lt. Gov. Patrick claims that Dr. Scribner "has lost his focus and thereby his ability to lead the Fort Worth ISD."

"Campus safety should be of paramount concern for anyone in his position. Every parent, especially those of young girls, should be outraged," Lt. Gov. Patrick said, presumably of the bathroom policy.

The press conference will take place at 5pm on at the Board of Education complex in Fort Worth. Check back with abc13 for continued coverage.
