DALLAS, TX (KTRK) -- The Dallas Cowboys and owner Jerry Jones are being sued by a former exotic dancer for sexual assault.
The suit comes several years after a series of photos were leaked to papers and blogs nationwide showing Jones seemingly enjoying the company of a group of young women.
"Someone has misrepresented photos taken at a restaurant 5 years ago for their own purposes, and so I'm just not going to comment on it," Jones said at the time.
But then yesterday, the woman who says she took the photos filed a lawsuit against Jones and the Cowboys. Jana Weckerly, a former stripper USA Today reports, said Jones assaulted her in May or June of 2009.
The lawsuit says the aftermath left Weckerly with emotional distress and accuses the Cowboys organization of negligence for not keeping her safe from Jones. She also claims Jones and the Cowboys threatened her after the alleged assault so she wouldn't tell police.
Her attorney says the incident forced her to leave the state of Texas. He tells USA Today she's now living in an undisclosed location because she fears for her life based on threats made by Jones and the Cowboys.
The lawsuit seeks more than a million dollars in damages on her behalf.
Attorneys for the Cowboys released a statement in response to the lawsuit:
The statement goes on to say the claims are so baseless and old. The Cowboys also say they are now getting police involved.
