Coast Guard contains oil seepage on Bolivar Peninsula

TEXAS CITY, TX (KTRK) -- The Coast Guard contained oil seepage on Bolivar Peninsula.

Patrol officers spotted the seepage along a 100 yard area of beach near rollover pass yesterday.

Crews dug trenches and laid boom to absorb the oil. The coast guard says it's taking samples from nearby oil and gas facilities and will compare them to the seepage to find out where the oil is coming from.

The beach around the affected area is closed. There are no reports of affected wildlife.
