HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Police are asking for the public's help to find three men they say have run a check cashing scheme in Houston for more than a year.
Harris County officials say the men are using counterfeit checks -- more than 500 of them since March 2013 -- to buy cigarettes and groceries at stores. Authorities say the crime ring has led to more $150,000 in losses. The Harris County District Attorney's Office says the men used fake driver's license numbers to cash the checks.
A reward of up to $5,000 is offered for information in this case.
