HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Luis Carlos Rodriguez was sentenced to life without parole on September 4, after a jury convicted him of capital murder. The 36-year-old Pasadena man was charged with beating a man to death during a robbery in May 2006.

According to Assistant District Attorney Stuti Patel, Arnulfo Aguilar was robbed and brutally murdered in his Sugar Land home on May 27, 2006 by three men who had recently befriended him. A life without parole sentence was automatic upon Rodriguez's conviction because the state did not seek the death penalty in this case.

"The jury's verdict represents justice for Arnulfo Aguilar and his family," stated Patel. "And when it was their turn to address the court, the defendant made derogatory and vulgar gestures towards them. Despite his lack of remorse, I admire the Aguilar family for their faith and forgiveness of such a horrible crime."

One of Rodriguez's co-defendants, Alberto Ramos, was previously convicted for Aguilar's murder and sentenced to 15 years in prison. The third man, Alonso Guerra, is still at large. The public is encouraged to contact Fort Bend County Crime Stoppers at 281-342-TIPS if they have any information regarding Guerra or his whereabouts.
