Bystanders find beating victim lying in the road near Downtown Houston
Several people found a beating victim lying in the middle of Fannin Street

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A couple of bystanders found a man lying in the road after a severe beating and may have seen the people who beat him.

That is according to police, who are just outside of Downtown Houston investigating the incident.

Investigators say it happened around 2:30am at Fannin Street at Webster Street.

Detectives say several witnesses stopped to help a man who was found lying on Fannin Street. Two or three people were seen walking away from the scene when the victim was found.

Witnesses called police, who arrived to find the man had been beaten. An ambulance was called to take the victim to the hospital.

The victim was unconscious and was unable to provide officers with any information as to who beat him or why.
