WEIMAR, TX -- Two people have been killed and about 10 others injured in a bus crash in Texas.
The Texas Department of Public Safety says the crash happened about 12:30 p.m. Wednesday in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 10 at at Mile Marker 682 in Weimar, which is about 85 miles west of Houston. The bus crashed into the back of a flatbed trailer. Other vehicles were also involved in the chain-reaction collision.
A statement from the agency says the driver and another person on the bus were killed. The injured were taken to hospitals.
The crash happened in a construction area as traffic stopped in front of the bus, which the agency said was traveling out of state. Video from the scene showed it was a Transportes del Norte bus.
The bus was traveling from Laredo, Texas, en route to North Carolina.
The company didn't immediately return a message.
The crash is being investigated by the Texas Highway Patrol and Weimar Police Department.
