Woman and baby hide in bathroom during burglary

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A woman and her toddler son hid in a bathroom when a burglar broke into their home, but he was soon the one looking for a way out.

Around 11am Friday, the woman heard a knock on the door at her home in the 18400 block of Desert Marigold in north Harris County. She didn't open the door, and soon after she reportedly heard someone running to the back of her home and breaking through the door.

The mother took her son and hid in a bathroom, where she called 911.

Deputies quickly arrived to find the suspect jumping out of a second story window and into a neighbor's yard. He dashed through the neighborhood before deputies caught up to him at a nearby bayou and took him into custody.

The woman and her son escaped safely to a neighbor's home, but the woman, who is pregnant, received medical attention for anxiety.
