ROSENBERG (KTRK) -- While many residents were displaced from their neighborhoods during the Memorial Day weekend floods, Rosenberg police say two men went into those homes and took everything.

Police say Tarquis Armstead and Darius Hunter broke into several homes Thursday around 2:40pm along Avenue A. According to neighbors, they saw the two men swimming through the murky water to at least two homes.

Homes in that area were damaged by flood waters from the Brazos River.

"Ain't nothing in there to steal except old furniture. People don't have no new furniture or jewelry. Ain't no rich people on this street. We all poor," Homer Davis Jr. said. "Why they had to do it? It's wrong to steal and break into somebody's house."

Armstead and Hunter were arrested and charged with two counts of burglary of a habitation, a second-degree felony. Both are currently in the Fort Bend County Jail.
