HOUSTON -- Just days before leading the 2014 Komen Houston Race for the Cure, Race Chair Kristen Barley of Meyerland was already a winner.

A breast cancer survivor, Barley and her Houston Texans cheerleader partner, Shannon, won the Kroger Giving Hope a Hand Relay on Oct. 1 at the West University store on Buffalo Speedway.

The relay was a kickoff for the Giving Hope a Hand campaign, which runs through Oct. 14, where shoppers have the opportunity to help raise money for breast cancer awareness nonprofits such as Susan G. Komen by purchasing specially-marked products at any area Kroger store.
