NEW YORK -- Barbra Streisand is set to publish her long-discussed and long-promised memoir.
The legendary singer-actress-filmmaker has a deal with Viking for her life story, the publisher announced Wednesday. The book is currently untitled and scheduled for 2017. According to Viking, Streisand will reflect on her childhood, her career and on the private life she has carefully guarded.
Streisand, 73, has been contemplating a memoir since at least 2009 when she told The Associated Press that she had been writing down thoughts and wondering whether she wanted to "relive" her life. The subject of numerous unauthorized books, she committed herself more strongly in recent years, saying she was determined to clear up various myths.
In 2010, Viking published Streisand's "My Passion for Design," an illustrated book featuring her Malibu, California, oceanfront compound.
