HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Many Autistic young adults face an uncertain future once they have aged out of the educational and developmental resources provided to them as school-aged children. Now, the Houston non-profit Aspire Accessories is training, employing and lending a helping hand as they navigate their way through adulthood.
"Not a lot of people understand what we have," said Kaitlin Winkler.
With a sewing machine buzzed in the background, the 19-year-old described what Aspire meant to her.
"This is some place where they can -where we can be safe, we're not criticized, we're given support," she said.
We'll have more about Aspire Accessories and its goals tonight on Eyewitness News at 10.
