Okla. troopers catch suspect in 2 Texas slayings

BEDFORD, TX

Bedford police announced Cedric Allen Ricks faces two murder counts plus an attempted murder charge in the wounding of the woman's 12-year-old son.

Oklahoma troopers late Wednesday arrested Ricks driving the victim's car. He's in the Garvin County, Okla., jail on $4.5 million bond. The stabbing victims were discovered hours earlier in an apartment in Bedford, about 10 miles northeast of Fort Worth.

Police say 30-year-old Roxann Diana Sanchez and Anthony Reyes Figueroa were dead at the scene. Her older son Marcus was taken to Cook Children's Hospital in Fort Worth, where he's in critical condition but is expected to recover.

No information was available on an attorney for Ricks.

Ricks' 8-month-old son by Sanchez was not injured and is now in foster care.

Ricks had been barred from seeing the child since November, when he was indicted on charges that he had choked Sanchez and injured the infant by rough handling. Child Protective Services spokeswoman Marissa Gonzales tells The Dallas Morning News that caseworkers investigated but closed its case on the family in January.
