It happened around 10:50pm 1700 block of FM 528 near the east city limits.
According to Friendswood police, an 18-year old League City woman was westbound on FM 528 when she hit the pedestrian.
The driver did not immediately know what she hit, police said. The windshield of her vehicle was smashed, so she pulled over to look at the damage and call a family member for help.
Police said the driver's relatives arrived and they went back to the scene to find out what she hit. That's when they found the woman's body in a grassy area off the roadway and called police.
Alcohol does not appear to be a factor on the part of the driver and no charges have been filed, officials said. Witnesses were interviewed and investigators are working to determine the cause of the accident and why the woman was walking in the roadway.
The identity of the victim has not been released, pending notification of the next of kin.
