Richmond begins its goodbye to longtime mayor

Visitation will be held today for a local man said to be the longest-serving mayor in the country.

Richmond Mayor Hilmar Moore died Tuesday at age 92.

Moore became mayor in 1949 after serving in World War II and served as the city's mayor for more than 60 years.

A visitation is scheduled from 5 to 8pm at the Fort Bend Country Club on F.M. 762 in Richmond.

His funeral will be held at 11am tomorrow at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Fourth Street.
