There was a deadly confrontation outside a car shop in northeast Houston early this morning. A man was shot and killed after the business owner claims he caught the man breaking in.

The owner says he saw the suspect jumping over the fence of his business on Tidwell near Sherbourne just before 1:30am.

The business owner told police that a man was breaking into his shop. That owner then got out his shotgun and fired at the man. He tried to flee, but collapsed on the street and later died.

"The person who stakes claim to the facility stated that a male was breaking into the facility," said Det. Joshua Horn with the Houston Police Department. "Upon entry the facility, he fired a shotgun at him, striking him in what we believe to be the arm. He later collapsed in the street."

There's no word yet if the business owner will face any charges.
