Man climbs electrical tower in north Houston

A man climbed the tower just before 7am, causing major traffic delays in the area.

A man who climbed an electrical tower along the Hardy Toll Road Wednesday morning was taken into police custody. It happened near the Hardy Toll Road and Parker. Police say the man climbed up the tower around 6:45am.

Transtar Jam Cams near that location showed the man on top of the power line tower. He climbed down just before 8am where officers were waiting for him. He was taken into custody without incident.

According to Houston police, the 44-year-old man was immediately taken to a hospital psychiatric ward. There's no word on what the man's motivation was to climb the tower.
