Merced Rojas, 43, filed suit after he was dismissed as a handyman in 2006. He claimed it was because he's Hispanic, and because his in-laws criticized town president Larry Dominick in a newspaper they publish.
Dominick denied both charges, and jurors agreed Rojas wasn't fired because of his ethnicity. But the jury did say he was fired for political reasons.
Rojas said justice has been served.
A spokesman for Cicero said the town will appeal.
