Ex-Miss San Antonio won't compete for Miss Texas

SAN ANTONIO, TX The Miss Texas pageant said Wednesday that Ashley Dixon has resigned her title as Miss Bexar County, thus dropping out of the statewide competition July 1 in Arlington. A lawyer for San Antonio beauty pageant organizers had already told The Associated Press on Monday that Dixon had resigned.

Dixon was named Miss San Antonio after pageant organizers stripped Domonique Ramirez of the title. Ramirez went to court and got her crown restored, however, and Dixon was subsequently named Miss Bexar County.

That made both eligible for Miss Texas -- whose winner competes for Miss America.

In its Wednesday statement, Miss Texas expressed disappointment over Dixon's resignation.
