CONROE, Texas (KTRK) -- Officials are investigating the death of an 81-year-old man who was found in a home in the Conroe area on Monday.
Montgomery County Sheriff's Office deputies arrived at the 19200 block of Trails End Road just after 8 a.m.
The deputies made entry into the home and found the man, identified as James Blount, suffering from a gunshot wound. EMS arrived at the scene and pronounced him dead.
The investigation remains ongoing.
ABC13 spoke with Blount's son, who did not want to be interviewed, but provided images of him and his dad.
Blount's son said his dad worked as a livestock officer with Montgomery County Constable Pct. 2.
Blount's longtime friend, Karen Stanley, said that over the years he rode with different trail-riding groups.
"He started getting involved with the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, and he's a lifetime member with them," Stanley said. "He loved his horses. He loved the whole atmosphere of the ride."
