Swanton man convicted of killing wife to be released

The Blade of Toledo reports that 48-year-old Thomas Craft of Swanton will spend the next five years under state supervision at a halfway house. The family of his wife, Lynette Craft, had petitioned the state for the placement after learning he planned to move to Wisconsin near the couple's sons.

Craft was sentenced to 12 years in prison in 2000 as part of a plea deal for voluntary manslaughter, abuse of a corpse and possession of criminal tools.

Craft maintained that his wife committed suicide and that he dismembered her body to hide the suicide from their sons.
