Randels Elementary School holds Habitat Holiday

Members of community came out to show support
FLINT TOWNSHIP The third "Habitat Holiday" was in full swing as students, parents and members of the community came out to show their support by purchasing items of all kinds created by the children, from hats and photos to painted flowerpots and goodies like cotton candy.

There was also a silent auction filled with various items including a autographed University of Michigan football and helmet. There was so much to offer with all of the proceeds going toward the building of a home for a family in need.

"Last year we raised about $7,000 and I think we're definitely on track for that," said Randels Elementary School Principal Bonnie Haffajee. "A house costs $70,000, so one tenth of the way there is pretty exciting."

The project is a partnership with Habitat for Humanity through their program Youth United. For more information on how you or your local school can be involved, click here.
