Trustees with the Houston school district are considering changes to how much teachers get in bonuses. Superintendent Dr. Terry Grier first proposed the reform, which could save the district more than $4.5 million. The Houston Chronicle reports that immediate reductions are planned in the wake of state funding cuts.

A bigger overhaul could come after next year. Last year, more than $24 million was spent just on bonuses.
