The Chicago Police Pension Fund Board vote was split on whether to discontinue Burge's pension. The 4 to 4 vote means the measure failed.
Burge will continue to collect about $3,700 a month.
Burge was sentenced to four-and-a-half years in prison last week after his felony conviction for lying about the torture of suspects.
