Teacher fired over alleged sex assault

PASADENA, TX Investigators say it started with some obscene text messages and now the teacher has been arrested. Police say some of the encounters happened at Bondy Intermediate School in Pasadena.

Police want to know if Reynaldo Martinez, 30, has had inappropriate or sexual contact with your children. He was arrested Wednesday and charged with sexual assault of a child, improper relationship with a student and possession of child pornography.

Authorities allege the crimes happened at Bondy Intermediate in the Pasadena School District. A substitute teacher, Martinez is alleged to have had sexual contact with a 14-year-old female student at least twice last week at the school. It began, say authorities, with Martinez inappropriately texting and asking for nude photos of the girl.

Court documents read in part, ''Complainant asked defendant (Martinez) what kind of pictures he wanted and defendant told her, 'the kind you don't want nobody to look at.'''

The girl also alleges there were two incidents of sexual contact with him in an empty classroom on the school campus. No one answered at Martinez's La Porte address. However, his next door neighbor was stunned by the allegations.

"That is very despicable. I've got children that old. That is horrible. I can't believe that somebody like that is living beside me," said neighbor Michael Robinson.

Parents were notified Wednesday with a letter sent home with students.

Now some parents wonder what's on their own child's phone. When we asked parent Mark Christ if he ever checked his child's phone, he replied, "No, that's not something I do."

And when we asked if he's rethought that, Christ replied, "Now I have, yes."

"It's always monitored. Mine is always monitored. Yes, absolutely," said parent Cheyla Coleman.

Besides working at Bondy, authorities say Martinez also worked as a long-term substitute teacher at Schneider Middle School in the Pasadena School District. A similar letter was also sent to parents of students at Schneider who had Martinez as a substitute.

Any other victims or anyone with knowledge of other victims are asked to contact the Pasadena ISD police department at 713-740-0200.

Martinez is in a Harris County jail on $150,000 bond.
