Major crash shuts down portion of Allen Parkway

Monday morning's wet roads may have caused a driver to lose control and crash into a tree on Allen Parkway. It happened near the Sabine exit. The car hit the tree and split in half. Firefighters had to use the Jaws of Life to get the driver out of the car. The driver was taken to a hospital in critical condition.

That accident happened not far from the crash that killed prominent Houston attorney John O'Quinn. It was also raining that morning back in October, when O'Quinn crashed his SUV into a tree, also killing his assistant, Johnny Cutliff. Police said O'Quinn was speeding.
