Toledo Bag Company donates to Haiti crisis

One Toledo business is helping Haiti in a unique way. This business has something Haiti could use and they're called 'super sacks'.

The Toledo Bag Company is working to give the recovery effort in Haiti a lift by giving relief workers there thousands of used industrial bags. The bags were once used for food or medical supplies. They come here for repair, recycling or distribution. They're called bulk bags or super sacks, and can carry a working load of one ton.

The president of the Toledo bag company says the super sacks will come in handy in the aftermath of an earthquake. They can store garbage, wood, concrete and help with the massive clean-up that lies ahead.

But the Toledo bag company wants to do even more. "What I've seen thus far, there has not been anyone in the local community to say, 'Hey, we want to help out and there's a collection point in the inner city.'"

The warehouse is now designated as a drop-off point for ISOH/IMPACT. It's next to the Lucas County Job and Family Services building on Monroe. If you live in the inner city and want to donate food or supplies, it's short distance to travel.

If you would like to drop off a donation at the Toledo Bag Company, the president tells 13abc you can stop by during business hours.
