New allegations at Katy ISD

HOUSTON We first told you this weekend about three Morton Ranch High School football coaches who are suspended, pending an investigation. Now, parents are learning about the allegations of an inappropriate relationship.

The letter to Morton Ranch parents from the principal acknowledges the existing investigation into three of its coaches. School officials say it was during that probe that investigators received information of an alleged relationship between a female teacher and a student during last school year. The district stresses it's only an allegation at this point.

"I regret that our campus has again been negatively portrayed in the media, however, I want to assure you that I and everyone on the Maverick staff are committed to ensuring that we have a positive start to our school year and that these events do not negatively impact our students," said Morton Ranch High School Principal Mark Grisdale in a statement.

The district told us the female teacher is no longer employed with Katy ISD. They say she resigned back in March for reasons other than this allegation.

One of the three coaches suspended is Athletic Director Scott Svendsen. All three are accused of violating policies regarding student records, use of funds, and athletic eligibility. The district is still investigating.
