Castro takes over as mayor in San Antonio

SAN ANTONIO, TX Julian Castro began his first day in office on Monday after easily beating eight other candidates in the election last month. Previous Mayor Phil Hardberger was restricted from running again because of term limits.

Castro was set to meet with city police, fire and water officials on a packed first day in office.

The attorney and former councilman has said he wants to focus on economic development and ensuring the city works well for all of its residents.
