A viewing for the late former city councilwoman was held Thursday in the park named in her honor. Tinsley died earlier this week at the age of 82.

She spent 16 years on the council, championing the preservation of historic districts and creating children's parks around town.

A memorial service is being held Saturday at Houston's South Main Baptist Church. It starts at 11am.
