A Meryl Streep movie about a student who turns violent on a U.S. campus is going to be released this spring. The distributor of "Dark Matter" says the film will debut in New York City on April 11th and be released in other American cities after that.

The release date will be almost a year after a student gunman killed 32 people and himself at the Virginia Tech campus in Blacksburg, Virginia, on April 16th. The announcement also comes a day after a former student opened fire in a science class at Northern Illinois University, killing five students and wounding 16 before committing suicide.

"Dark Matter" was originally delayed followed the Virginia Tech attack.
