BAYTOWN, Texas (KTRK) -- A 6-month-old baby girl has died following a dog attack in Baytown on Tuesday.

Baytown Police Department officers were called to The Inverness Gardens Apartments in the 1300 block of E. James Avenue just before 4 p.m.

A baby girl, around 6 months old, was taken to the hospital via ambulance, investigators said. Officials confirmed her death on Wednesday.

ABC13 was at the scene when two dogs were taken from the complex by Baytown Animal Services. Baytown PD says the dogs belonged to the baby's parents.

Police have not confirmed what breed of dog was involved and have not provided further details about what exactly led up to the attack.

Officials said no arrests have been made and no charges have been filed at this time.

A neighbor told ABC13 he was just getting home from work when it all happened and saw the injured baby.

"Nobody wants to see a kid like that. Not nobody, period. But a kid. I mean, come on," Ken Sheltoe said.

Police said the case remains under investigation.
