HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- An investigation is underway in northwest Houston after a woman was found dead inside a home Wednesday morning, according to police.
Her husband, considered to be the murder suspect, is in custody.
Houston police were called at about 7:24 a.m. for a welfare check at a home in the 5100 block of Emma Forest Street, near Pinemont Drive.
When officers arrived, they found a woman with blunt force injuries, said HPD Homicide detective Todd Tyler. The fire department was called and pronounced her dead.
Officials learned of the incident after the suspect went to a neighbor's house. The neighbor saw blood on the suspect and called police to ask for the welfare check.
Authorities don't know how long the woman had been dead in the home, but believe it happened within the last 24 hours, Tyler said.
Tyler added that the suspect had not told them what happened. Authorities were also still working to confirm whether that was the wife's blood on the suspect.
The couple is believed to be in their 30s.
Investigators don't know if they have children, but no one else was home when they found the woman.
