Family, friends, and loved ones remember Josue Flores

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Photos of proud and happy moments filled the room at La Paz Memorial Funeral Home where loved ones were remembering 11-year-old Josue Flores.

"He was really compassionate, really nice, always smiling" said his sister, Guadalupe Flores.

However, fear is the flip side to his family's grief. They know his killer is not yet behind bars, and despite a false arrest last week, they want the community to keep the faith.

"We just have to trust HPD, and forensics, they're doing their job. We just have to help them, be there for them," said Flores.

As police continue to search for the man who killed Josue Flores, a wake for the 11-year-old was held in north Houston.

Meanwhile, his classmates are remembering Josue in their own way, planting a tree in his honor, in front of Marshall Middle School.

It holds great meaning for his friend, Angel Nario.

"We see it every time we walk out out of school and every time we walk out we can remember him."

Funeral services for Josue Flores are tomorrow.
