HOUSTON (KTRK) -- The secret to a long life may just be a good night's rest.

That advice is according to Armond Lollard, a Houston WWII veteran who just celebrated his 100th birthday.

Dozens of friends and relatives were there as Lollard blew out his candles.

They looked at photos and shared memories of the birthday boy from over the years.

Lollard says he credits good sleep hygiene for his longevity.

"The secret, like I say, is getting up every morning," Lollard says. "Sleep good at night, wake up the next morning feeling good, and just keep it up for a hundred years."

Lollard has four children, 14 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren.

His daughters say he's a man of God who taught them respect and kindness. He's still active and loved to socialize in the northwest Houston retirement community where he lives.
