HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- It's a hot holiday weekend with the chance for a few pop-up showers and storms each day, but conditions should be dry by fireworks time Saturday night!
Overnight temperatures will eventually fall into the upper 70s by Sunday morning. Sunday will look and feel a whole lot like Saturday with another hot afternoon and temperatures in the 90s. There's also a 30% chance for a few showers and storms to pop up throughout the day.
Besides the daily poo-ups that give the Houston area about a 20 to 30% chance for rain on these hot and humid days, we're keeping an eye on a weather system that will be passing by to our north Tuesday. An upper-level low will make its way south towards Louisiana early next week where showers and storms could make it as far south to the Houston area Tuesday. Right now we have a 40% chance for showers and storms that day.
It'll still be quite steamy over the next 7 to 10 days with highs consistently in the 90s. And while we'll get a break from a nearby heat dome early next week, another one will build in to our north and west and bring hot temperatures in the upper 90s to Southeast Texas later net week.
Quiet in the Atlantic as another large plume of Saharan dust is in place. In the Pacific, tropical storm Douglas has dissipated. Visit our Tropical Update page for a more in-depth tropical weather discussion and forecast.
