Summer heat with low rain chances for July 4th

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Our steamy summer weather continues for the long holiday weekend. Rain chances will continue from Friday through July 4th weekend.

The deep tropical moisture that gave us scattered thunderstorms Thursday will go down just a bit. There will still be enough through the weekend to give us widely scattered showers and a few storms.

How hot will it get this weekend?

Low temps will only fall to the upper 70s. High temps will rise to the middle 90s, a degree or two above normal. High humidity levels will make it feel like 102-106 so do what you can to keep yourself cool and hydrated.

What's the latest timing on Saturday's rain?

The window for the scattered showers and storms Saturday is from 2pm to 6pm. Most of the rain will be gone by fireworks time.

What are you tracking in the tropics?

Quiet in the Atlantic as another large plume of Saharan dust is in place. In the Pacific, tropical storm Douglas has dissipated. Visit our Tropical Update page for a more in-depth tropical weather discussion and forecast.
