TSU student shot twice during violent robbery

HOUSTON

According to witnesses, that student was walking down Burkett and when he got near his car, someone came up from behind him and began shooting.

According to a neighbor, after the man was shot a woman who was with the victim started yelling for help.

The shooting suspect fled in a late model white Ford Mustang, according to one eyewitness.

Neighbors quickly ran to help the student and called 911. Minutes later he was rushed to the hospital, where he is being treated.

TSU police released a campus alert on Saturday. They said the student tried to fight off his attacker.

Jonathan Howard tried to help the bleeding student while he was waiting for help to arrive.

"It's one of the worst feelings in the world, watching someone's life slip away and not being able to do anything about it, standing right there," Howard said. "The ambulance took about 10 to 12 minutes to get here. Hopefully we can improve that with ambulance services or with the city. Whatever we have to do."

That shooting victim's red shirt was still on the scene the following day, as was his vehicle. His name has not been released to the media.

If you know anything about this shooting, you're asked to contact the Houston Police Department.
