House of Pies in Upper Kirby reopens months after fire

Fire officials say the fire started in the attic of the restaurant, then spread to the roof.

Fans of the House of Pies in Upper Kirby can finally enjoy breakfast there again. The popular restaurant reopened tonight, months after it was gutted by a fire.

The building caught fire in November. About 40 customers were inside the building when things started to get a little smoky, but no one was injured.

The restaurant has been open on Kirby Drive 24 hours a day for nearly 50 years.
