Southeast Houston homeowner fires at alleged car thief who led police on chase

HOUSTON

The chaotic afternoon all started with a car theft on the Texas Southern University Campus.

According to Harris County Precinct 7 Constable's Office deputies, two men stole a car and led officers on a chase.

The car chase ended when the vehicle crashed, but officials said the suspected then took off on foot.

Authorities said that's when one of the men ran to up to a house on Prospect and Ennis and knocked on the door.

According to investigators, the suspect took a swing at the homeowner when he opened his door, but the homeowner grabbed his gun and shot at the man multiple times as he jumped over a fence.

The man remains at large. His accomplice was taken into custody.
