Cyclists are just finishing this month's Critical Mass. As we saw, some bikers disobeyed traffic laws and made some close calls.
Dressed in full costumes, more than 2,000 bicyclists took over the streets of downtown Houston.
"I've gone on this ride about four times," cyclist Jennifer Cadango said.
For some, the fun spilled over into chaos, causing a traffic nightmare for drivers at a number of intersections.
"I've seen people yelling and screaming and people getting out of their cars," Cadango said.
The ride happens on the last Friday of every month. The group is called Critical Mass. The goal is to get drivers used to seeing cyclists on the roadways.
But instead, we saw cyclists disobeying traffic laws.
"Unfortunately, its a harsh reality. It does happen, and that's probably why this is my last ride," Cadango said.
Cyclists were seen running red lights, riding the wrong way down streets and weaving in and out of traffic.
"Instead of being angry in your car, you should be joining us. It's a Friday night," organizer Fab Ordonez said.
"It looks like a pretty unique happening, so I think they know it's going on. I guess if I was stuck behind it, I might think differently," Houston resident Stan Ehrenkranz said.
Bike police did escort the Critical Mass group. This ride has been going on around the country for more than a decade. Organizers have been working with HPD on safety.
