Lionel Dacosta told ABC11 he put a big plastic skeleton on the front of his Jeep in September. He had it there for weeks as he drove his 5 year old to school at New Hope Elementary.
But on Tuesday, he says a school resource officer told him the decoration was too scary, and he had to take it off - or else.
"If they would have came to me in a different way, and not threatening, and asking 'Would you please take it down. It's causing a lot of problems with us here?' I would have obliged in a heartbeat. But the way they took it, I don't take kindly to threats and it is Halloween," said Dacosta.
The Orange County School District told ABC11 Thursday that the issue should never have been addressed. It said it is not the district's or the school's intent to have someone take something off their car.
It added it has apologized to Dacosta.
